Comprised of three brothers digging themselves out from the snowbanks of Minneapolis, The Shackletons are a rock n' roll trio pedaling hooks as if they were traveling snake oil salesmen. Putting on electrifying live performances, Colin (guitar/vocals), Cameron (bass/vocals), and Evan (drums/vocals/misc screaming) pitch their elixirs - distilled essences of punk, blues, indie, and whatever is leftover in stock - to suspecting customers.

The brothers have been on trade exhibitions of their own design, as well as warming up crowds for other reputable merchants. All products (or songs, if you prefer) have been created in soundlabs that are kind of spooky, but not outright evil...with mad scientists like John Fields and Ed Ackerson.

Returning home with all sorts of newfound treasures and experience from their Lucero-led galivant across the country, the boys got to work on their sophomore album. "Formerly the Albatross" is a venture out of their indie-rock roost into something that sounds like a beautiful, secular stained-glass mural in the path of a barreling freight train.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more music and shows.

"What are the best Minnesota albums of the year so far?"
2024
The Shackletons, “Formerly the Albatross.” Don’t think there are any good guitar-cranking, sweat-dripping rock bands in the Twin Cities anymore? This trio of brothers from Stillwater could single-handedly restore your faith — especially now with their best album yet, produced by John Fields (Soul Asylum, Semisonic) and featuring fun tributes to local fixtures such as the First National Bank’s neon 1 (“St. Paul Skyline”) and a local mega-fan who’s usually first in line (“Front Row Paul”).

"Review - Lucero @ the Fillmore (4/9/23)"
2023
"Speaking of energy, the opening set by Minnesota 3-piece The Shackletons was a major eye opener for the crowd. The Campbell Brothers – Colin (vocals & guitar), Cameron (bass) and Evan (drums) brought a sound and intensity that was reminiscent of a fellow North Star State band – The Replacements. Their blend of punk, blues, and indy music makes for an enjoyable cocktail and they had the audience roaring. They released their first full length, self-titled album in 2021 and seem like a band to keep an eye out for as they make the climb. They closed their set with Rick from Lucero joining on keys for an uproarious cover of Mott the Hoople’s “All the Young Dudes."

"The Big Gigs: 10 Concerts to See in the Twin Cities this Week"
2023
"One of Minnesota's hardest-working young rock acts has not surprisingly turned into one of its best. The band of Stillwater-raised brothers — best known locally from the Current airplay staple "Minnesota Girls" — rolls into its biggest hometown gig of late fresh off a spring tour with Memphis rockers Lucero, whose rowdy yet soulful and intelligent rock is echoed by these Minnesota boys."

"I can’t say enough good things about these guys and this album. It really was such a wonderful experience finding them and listening to this album. This record is not on Rolling Stone or Pitchfork’s top ten, but this is Mikey’s album reviews, and I adore The Shackletons."

"The Shackletons Jam in the Van"
2019
"What a trip it is, that I can be in LA on my Spotify discovery and come across a band of kids from Minnesota who have some songs I dig, and then I send them a message from our Jam in the Van Instagram and say “hey, you want to come record in Texas?” and they say “yeah, we love your series, we’re down.” Then a few weeks later, sure enough, there’s those kids from Minnesota with the catchy songs. They played the songs for us and then they went fishing… what a fuckin’ trip man…"
